| Ja: That’s good to know. จะตาย jà-dtaai is usually used after negative adjectives to give them extra emphasis. |

| Ja: โต dtoo means “large”, but it’s usually used when you have to describe that something has “gotten big”, such as the growth of a child. จน jon is the preposition “until”, and ป่านนี้ bpàan níi means “until now”. |
| Jing: The sentence can also mean “You’ve grown up until you’re now this big.” |

| Ja: อย่าคิด yàa khít is the verb phrase “Don’t think”. And รู้ไม่ทัน rúu mâi than literally means “to know in time”. |

| Ja: So if someone is trying to trick you, you can use this phrase to say “You haven’t fooled me” or “Don’t think I haven’t caught on to your plan.” |

| Ja: In this lesson, you’ll learn about using มั่นใจ mân-jai to mean "confident". มั่นใจ mân-jai is an adjective that can mean “confident”, “assured”, or “sure”. |
| Jing: ใช่จ้ะ แต่ต้องไม่ลืมนะคะว่าเราสามารถใช้คำว่า มั่นใจ เป็น verb ในความหมายว่า “to trust in”. |
| Ja: Right. I think it’s good to remember that the roles of adjectives and verbs are somewhat interchangeable in Thai. อืม... แล้วเราจะใช้คำนี้ในประโยคได้ยังไงคะ |

| Ja: OK, let’s look at “ว่า” wâa first. |

| Ja: So this pattern will tell you that the subject is confident about some statement which follows. What example did we have in the conversation? |
| Jing: พี่มั่นใจว่าจะเห็นผีจริงๆ |
| phîi mân-jai wâa jà hěn phǐi jing-jing. |
| Ja: “I’m confident that you’ll really see a ghost.” So in this sentence, we followed มั่นใจว่า mân-jai wâa with the statement “จะเห็นผี” jà hěn phǐi, which means “will see a ghost”. |
| Jing: ถูกต้อง กลุ่มคำต่อไปคือคำว่า “มั่นใจใน” มีความหมายว่า “to be confident in”. |
| Ja: And do we want to follow มั่นใจใน mân-jai nai with a statement too? |
| Jing: จริงๆแล้วคำที่ตามหลังคำว่า “มั่นใจใน” ต้องเป็น noun และต้องเป็น abstract noun. |
| Ja: I see. A lot of times, abstract nouns are formed with the prefixes “ความ” khwaam and “การ” gaan. |

| Ja: “He’s confident in his actions.” Great. Now we know how to use “confident that”... |
