| B: Everything is fine. But on the way driving, I was really hungry, but I couldn't see any restaurants. There were only shops selling rats on the side of the road. I tried to endure and keep driving. I was hoping I'd see a restaurant. But in the end there weren't any. Finally, I had to decide to buy a rat from the roadside to eat. I hate them and always thought rats are dirty. |

| Ja: And that meant “to continue driving”. โอเค แล้วกลุ่มคำต่อไปละคะ |
| Jing: กินต้นข้าวเป็นอาหาร gin dtôn-khâao bpen aa-hǎan |
| Ja: This phrase means “to eat rice stalks as food”. |

| Verb + Object 1 + เป็น bpen + Object 2 |
| Ja: So when we use this pattern, it tells us that the action is done using the first object in such a way that it is identified with the second object. |
| Jing: ถูกต้องค่ะ In this case, the rice stalks, or ต้นข้าว dtôn-khâao, become identified as food, or อาหาร aa-hǎan. |
| Ja: And why are they identified as food? |
| Jing: เพราะหนูกิน So กิน gin is the verb. |
| Ja: เอาละค่ะ ครูจิงช่วยอ่านทั้งประโยคอีกครั้งได้ไหมคะ |
| Jing: กินต้นข้าวเป็นอาหาร gin dtôn-khâao bpen aa-hǎan |
| Ja: “To eat rice stalks as food.” Can we use this same pattern with other verbs? |

| GRAMMAR POINT |
| Ja: In this lesson, you’ll learn about using ในที่สุด nai-thîi-sùt and สุดท้าย sùt-tháai to say "finally". |
| Jing: มาดูกลุ่มคำแรกของเรา คำว่า “ในที่สุด” |
| Ja: ในที่สุด nai-thîi-sùt is an adverb that means “finally”, “eventually”, “in the end”, or “at last”. This phrase will usually be used as a preposition, which comes at the beginning of a sentence. |
