| Ja: It can mean “to be neat”, “to be orderly”, “to be polite”, or “to be proper”. เรียบร้อย rîiap-ráawy is an important idea for understanding Thai culture, isn’t it? |

| Ja: This sentence means “Tell them ‘thank you’ for me.” |

| Ja: He uses พี่ phîi as the pronoun “I” in this sentence because he is older than the listener. ฝาก fàak is a verb that means “to deposit” or “to entrust”. And พวกท่าน phûuak-thâan is a polite form of the pronoun “they”. |
| Jing: ถูกต้องค่ะ ดังนั้นเราสามารถเข้าใจกลุ่มคำนี้ว่า “I’m entrusting you to give a ‘thank you’ to them”. |

| GRAMMAR POINT |
| Ja: In this lesson, you’ll learn about using the phrase ว่าแต่ว่า wâa-dtàae-wâa to mean "anyway" as a phrase to move on or shift the topic of conversation. |
| Jing: This is really something that’s quite useful to know, and will help you sound more smooth and natural. ใช่ค่ะ ฉันเห็นด้วย ถ้าคุณสามารถใช้คำว่า ว่าแต่ว่า ในการสนทนาจะช่วยให้สำเนียงของคุณดูเหมือนเป็นคนไทยจริงๆ |
| Ja: Basically, when you are done talking about one subject, and you want to shift the direction of the conversation, ว่าแต่ว่า wâa-dtàae-wâa can be used as a segue. It is very much like saying “Well, anyways...”. |

| So in these two sentences, Pong is still keeping to the larger topic of Bow’s parents, but he’s using ว่าแต่ว่า wâa-dtàae-wâa to shift the focus of the conversation away from what Bow’s parents said about him to what Bow and her parents did together. |

| So, Pong stays on the general topic of reporting for the flight. But he uses ว่าแต่ว่า wâa-dtàae-wâa to shift the focus away from himself and towards Bow, asking if she’s reported yet. |
