| Ja: This phrase means "to talk well" or “to talk big”. |

| Ja: “ทำเป็น tham bpen” is a group of verbs that means “to pretend to” and พูดดี “phûut dii” actually means “talk well” or “talk sweet” |
| Jing: ใช่ค่ะ ดังนั้น ทำเป็นพูดดี สามารถหมายความได้ว่า “to pretend to talk sweet” when describing someone who talks smoothly but has bad intentions. |
| Ja: But in this situation, it means something like “to pretend to talk well” or “to talk big, but actually be bad at it in practice.” |

| GRAMMAR POINT |
| Ja: In this lesson, you’ll learn about using สัก or ซัก sák with amounts to mean “about or “around”, or to show that the amount is small. |
| Jing: We place the particle สัก or ซัก directly before the amount. |
| Ja: The official way to say or write this word is สัก, with a low tone. But in casual language you can use ซัก sák to mean the same thing. |
| Jing: ถูกต้องค่ะ It's actually quite easy, just like Thai grammar in general. |
| Ja: Yes, and I remember we learned earlier that สัก means “tattoo” and you probably know that ซัก means “to wash”. Now, สัก and ซัก that we’re learning is written in the same way as “tattoo” and “to wash” but with a different meaning. |
| Jing: เก่งมากค่ะ เรามีตัวอย่างการใช้ “ซัก” จากบทสนทนาที่ว่า... |
| เดี๋ยวพี่จะออกกำลังกายทุกวัน ลดซักสี่ ห้ากิโล |
| dǐiao phîi jà àawk-gam-lang-gaai thúk-wan lót sák sìi hâa gì-loo. |
| Ja: "Just wait, I’m going to work out every day, and lose about 4 or 5 kilograms." So in this sentence, the speaker uses ซัก sák to indicate that it is a rough estimation rather than an exact amount. Also, they might believe 4 or 5 kilograms is a modest amount of weight which they have a realistic chance of losing. |

| Ja: In this case ซัก was used with an amount of weight. Which other amounts can we use it with? |

| Jing: A common situation where ซัก indicates a small amount is when it is used in negative sentences. |
| For example “เขาคงไม่มีเงินซักเท่าไหร่” |
| Ja: “He probably doesn’t have much money” |
| Jing: Or even worse, “เขาไม่มีเงินซักบาท” |
| Ja: “He doesn’t have even one baht of money” |
