Hello everyone, welcome to Thai weekly words with me Prathana and today you might notice that the background has changed. That’s because we are not in our usual studio today but we are in Bangkok in Thailand. Isn’t that exciting? So let’s see what we would be learning this week. |
This week will be about months of the year. |
[เดือนต่างๆในหนึ่งปี] (duuean dtàang dtàang nai nùeng bpii) Let’s get started |
1.[เดือนกรกฎาคม] (duuean gà-rá-gà-daa-khom) July |
[เดือนกรกฎาคมในเมืองไทยมักมีฝนตกบ่อย] (duuean gà-rá-gà-daa-khom nai muueang thai mák mii fŏn dtòk bàuy) It usually rains in July in Thailand. That’s because the rainy season in Thailand, usually it’s from May to September or August. So during these months, it will rain a lot. So please be careful if you ever come to Thailand during those months |
2.[เดือนกันยายน] (duuean gan-yaa-yon) September |
[ภาคการศึกษาแรกจะจบในเดือนกันยายน] (phâak-gaan-sùek-săa râaek jà jòp nai duuean gan-yaa-yon) The first semester will end in September. Many schools in Thailand start their first semester in May and the first semester will end in September and then the second semester will start in November and ends in February or March. So if you want to come to study in Thailand, then please be aware of this difference |
3.[เดือนกุมภาพันธ์] (duuean gum-phaa-phan) February |
[วันวาเลนไทน์อยู่ในเดือนกุมภาพันธ์] (wan waa-len-thai yùu nai duuean gum-phaa-phan) Valentine’s Day is in February. They will have like all the cards and all the you know red roses, decoration when it’s close to Valentines. So it’d usually feel quite festive. So if you ever come to Thailand during February, don’t forget to go to shops or department stores to see. Okay |
4.[เดือนตุลาคม] (duuean dtù-laa-khom) October |
[เด็กๆปิดเทอมในเดือนตุลาคม] (dèk dèk bpìt-thooem nai duuean dtù-laa-khom) Children have their school break in October. I like October because it’s getting a little colder in Thailand. Well not cold but colder and it’s the school break season as well. So yeah, so I like October and I bet many students in Thailand do also |
5.[เดือนมกราคม] (duuean má-gà-raa-khom) January |
[เดือนมกราคมเป็นเดือนแรกของปี] (duuean má-gà-raa-khom bpen duuean râaek khǎawng bpii) January is the first month of the year. It has New Year and a lot of holidays. So yeah January is good month of the year. |
And that’s the end. So that’s the end for Thai weekly words for this week. Yeah so if you have any comments or any questions, please be sure to let us know and we will see you in the next Thai weekly words, bye. |
