Hello, guys! I'm Jay, and today we are going to do Thai Holiday Words. |
So today, we are going to do Chakri Memorial Day. Ok, let's begin! |
1. วันจักรี (wan jàk-grii) “Chakri Memorial Day” |
Chakri Memorial Day, or in Thai, วันจักรี (wan jàk-grii). |
วันจักรีตรงกับวันที่ 6 เมษายนของทุกปี (wan jàk-grii dtrong gàp wan thîi hòk mee-săa-yon khǎawng thúk bpii) "The Chakri memorial day is on the sixth of April of every year." |
To give you more information about this day, Chakri Memorial Day is actually the anniversary of Chakri Dynasty. |
2. รัชกาลที่ 1 (rát-chá-gaan thîi nùeng) "King Rama I" |
So the next word is "King Rama I". |
รัชกาลที่ 1 (rát-chá-gaan thîi nùeng) or ร. 1 (r. nùeng). |
So, you know that Thai name is very long, and when it comes to King's name, it's even longer. |
So our Rama I's full name is พระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลกมหาราช (Phra Bat Somdet Phra Phutthayotfa Chulalok Maharat). That is his full name. |
รัชกาลที่ 1 เป็นกษัตริย์ผู้ก่อตั้งราชวงศ์จักรี (rát-chá-gaan thîi nùeng bpen gà-sàt phûu gàaw dtâng râat-chá-wong jàk-grii) "King Rama I is the founder of Chakri Dynasty." |
3. ขึ้นครองราชย์(khûen khraawng râat) "Be enthroned" |
This word is only used for Kings only. Even for English word, "be enthroned" is only used for Kings, right? So the same. |
รัชกาลที่ 1 ขึ้นครองราชเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2325 (rát-chá-gaan thîi nùeng khûen khraawng râat mûuea bpii phaaw-sǎaw sǎawng phan sǎam ráauy yîi-sìp hâa) "Our King Rama I was enthroned in the year 1782." |
4. ราชวงศ์จักรี (râat-chá-wong jàk-grii) "Chakri Dynasty" |
ราชวงศ์จักรีคือราชวงค์ปัจจุบันของประเทศไทย (râat-chá-wong jàk-grii khuue râat-chá-wong bpàt-jù-ban khǎawng bprà-thêet thai) "Chakri Dynasty is the current dynasty of Thailand." |
5. กรุงเทพ (grung thêep) "Bangkok" |
ราชวงศ์จักรีคือราชวงค์ปัจจุบันของประเทศไทย (râat-chá-wong jàk-grii khuue râat-chá-wong bpàt-jù-ban khǎawng bprà-thêet thai) "Bangkok is the forth capital city of Thailand." |
Before Bangkok, we have กรุงสุโขทัย (grung Sukhothai), กรุงศรีอยุธยา (grung Si Ayutthaya), กรุงธนบุรี (grung Thonburi). And then now, I think after that, we moved to Bangkok, which is กรุงเทพมหานคร (grung-thêep-má-hăa-ná-khaawn), or the current capital city of Thailand. |
And that is the end of today's Thai holiday word. |
