How much do manners matter in Thailand? Manners are everything! In this lesson, you’re going to learn how to say “Thank you” “I am sorry” and how to give a response in Thai. This is SUPER easy and you’ll learn them all in THREE minutes. |
So here are the three phrases. |
ขอบคุณ(khàawp-khun) |
ขอบคุณครับ/ค่ะ(khàawp-khun khráp/khà) |
ขอบคุณ(khàawp-khun) “thank you” |
Next, ขอโทษ(khǎaw-thôot) |
ขอโทษครับ/ค่ะ(khǎaw-thôot khráp/khà) |
ขอโทษ(khǎaw-thôot) “excuse me” or “I’m sorry” |
And next, (mâi-bpen-rai) |
ไม่เป็นไรครับ/ค่ะ(mâi-bpen-rai khráp/khà) |
ไม่เป็นไร(mâi-bpen-rai) means “Never mind” “That’s ok” “Don’t worry” “No problem” |
Let’s practice these three phrases in different situations… |

ขอบคุณครับ/ค่ะ(khàawp-khun khráp/khà) |

An old guy reply ไม่เป็นไร(mâi-bpen-rai) |
On the public bus. The bus makes a sudden stop and I almost fall down, then I hit someone. |
ขอโทษค่ะ(khǎaw-thôot khà) |
That passenger reply ไม่เป็นไรครับ/ค่ะ(mâi-bpen-rai khráp/khà) |

Do smile J when saying these phrases… |
ขอบคุณ(khàawp-khun) “thank you” |
ขอโทษ(khǎaw-thôot) “excuse me” when you want to attract one’s attention and… |
