Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you good at?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about what you’re good at doing.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
คุณเก่งด้านไหน (khun gèeng dâan năi)
ฉันเก่งด้านภาษา (chăn gèeng dâan phaa-săa)
Once more with the English translation.
คุณเก่งด้านไหน (khun gèeng dâan năi)
“What are you good at?”
ฉันเก่งด้านภาษา (chăn gèeng dâan phaa-săa)
“I'm good at languages.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you good at?”
That's:
คุณเก่งด้านไหน (khun gèeng dâan năi)
Listen to it again:
คุณเก่งด้านไหน, คุณเก่งด้านไหน (khun gèeng dâan năi, khun gèeng dâan năi)
This Thai sentence literally translates as “You good at what?”
But it means “What are you good at?”.
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
ฉันเก่งด้าน [skill] (chăn gèeng dâan [skill])
“I'm good at [skill].”
For example:
“I'm good at languages.”
ฉันเก่งด้านภาษา, ฉันเก่งด้านภาษา (chăn gèeng dâan phaa-săa, chăn gèeng dâan phaa-săa)
