Hi everyone. Welcome to Thai top words. I am Jay and today, we will be doing 10 Must-know Words to Party in Thailand
Okay. Let’s party!
1. ปาร์ตี้ (bpaa-dtîi) "party"
จัดปาร์ตี้กันเถอะ (jàt bpaa-dtîi gan thòe) "Let's have a party!"
Obviously, this word is from the English word Party. We just changed it into like no Thai accent, (bpaa-dtîi). So it’s actually the same word. Thai people love to have party. So, if you are going to have a party, don’t forget to invite your Thai friends.
2. เต้น (dtên) "dance"
คุณอยากเต้นไหม (khun yàak dtên mái) "Do you like to dance?"
I am a bad dancer. How about you guys?
3. คลับ (khláp) "club"
คุณชอบคลับไหน (khun châawp khláp năi) "Which club do you like?"
As you know that Thailand is very famous for its nightlife. So if you visit Thailand and you are over 18 years old, you should try to go to clubs in Thailand. My favorite ones are Escobar and DEMO. They are around Thonglor area. There are a lot of nice clubs there. So just try.
4. เต้นหลุดโลก (dtên lùt lôok) "rave"
ฉันไม่ชอบเต้นหลุดโลก (chăn mâi châawp dtên lùt lôok) "I don't like raving very much."
I think there is no exact translation for this word, rave, as in like dancing, you know in Thai. So in Thai, we just say (dtên) or (dtên lùt lôok), like dance your heart out or like dance in a club. So I don’t know. I just think that there’s no exact translation but the closest one is (dtên) or (dtên lùt lôok) You just can’t say dance, like (dtên).
5. เทศกาล (thêet-sà-gaan) "festival"
มาสนุกกับเทศกาลนี้กันเถอะ (maa sà-nùk gàp thêet-sà-gaan níi gan thòe) "Let's enjoy the festival!"
Yay! My favorite Thai festival is Songkran festival or Water Splashing festival in English. I am not sure. How about you guys? What is your favorite Thai festival?
6. ดื่ม (dùuem) "drink"
คุณอยากดื่มอะไร (khun yàak dùuem a-rai) "What would you like to drink?"
Normally, Thai guys like other guys I think they love to drink beer and we have Thai famous beers called Chang and Singha. Sorry if I am wrong. I am very bad at this but for girls like me, I love to have cocktail or champagne. It’s expensive but yeah. So I don’t drink so often because they are quite expensive.
7. ชนแก้ว (chon gâaeo) "cheers"
ชนแก้ว! (chon gâaeo!) "Cheers!"
Sometimes Thai people do say cheers too you know like "Cheers!" or ชนแก้ว (chon gâaeo). We use both
8. เมา (mao) "get drunk"
เขาเมาแล้ว (khăo mao láaeo) "He got drunk."
If you drink and you get drunk in Thailand, don’t drive. Okay. And taxi in Thailand is very, very cheap. So if you get drunk, you just call a taxi to pick you up. That is the easiest way to go home if you get drunk.
9. คาราโอเกะ (khaa-raa-oo-gè) "karaoke"
ฉันไปคาราโอเกะ (chăn bpai khaa-raa-oo-gè) "I went to karaoke."
Karaoke in Thailand is very easy to find. If you want to go to Karaoke, you just fly – you just go to a big shopping mall. They are always located on the top floor of any shopping mall in Thailand.
10. บาร์ (baa) "bar"
ฉันชอบบาร์นี้ (chăn châawp baa níi) "I like this bar."
One thing that I think Thailand is very good is the fact that we have many fancy bars in Bangkok. So if you go to a metropolitan area like Thonglor, Ekkamai or Silom, it’s very easy to find nice bar there. There are a lot of them.
Okay. We are done for today’s lesson. When you go party, what would you like to do like for me, I love to เต้น (dtên), dance, and คาราโอเกะ (khaa-raa-oo-gè), karaoke, and just have fun!
