Hello, everyone. Welcome back to Top Thai words. I am Jay. So What Are Your Top 10 Language Learning Goals for the Year? Let’s find out. |
1. ฉันจะฟังบทเรียนชุด Survival Phrases ใน ThaiPod101.com ให้จบ โดยฟังวันละ 2 บท (Chǎn jà fang bòt-riian chút sooe-wai-wân fréet-sêt nai thai-phàwt wan-oo-wan hâi jòp dooi fang wan-lá sǎawng bòt) “I'll finish the Survival Phrases series on ThaiPod101.com by listening to two lessons a day.” |
So if you want to have the best Thai lesson, please don’t forget to check out ThaiPod101.com |
2. ฉันจะอ่านหนังสือภาษาไทยให้จบหนึ่งเล่ม โดยอ่านวันละ 10 หน้า (Chǎn jà àan nǎng-sŭue phaa-sǎa thai hâi jòp nùeng lêm dooi àan wan-lá sìp nâa) “I'll finish reading one Thai book by reading 10 pages a day.” |
Well, that is a lot, 10 pages a day. |
3. ฉันจะสอบภาษาไทยให้ผ่าน (Chǎn jà sàawp phaa-sǎa thai hâi phàan) “I'll pass my Thai test.” |
4. ฉันจะดูหนังไทยหนึ่งเรื่องให้ได้รู้เรื่องทั้งหมด โดยดูไปทุกวัน (Chǎn jà duu nǎng-thai nùeng-rûueang hâi dâi rúu-rûueang tháng-mòt dooi duu bpai thúk-wan) “I intend to understand one Thai movie by watching it every day.” |
Have you guys watched any Thai movies before? |
5. ฉันจะพูดแนะนำตัวกับเพื่อนคนไทยเป็นภาษาไทย (Chǎn jà phûut náe-nam dtuua gàp phûuean khon thai bpen phaa-săa thai) “I'll introduce myself in Thai to my Thai friends.” |
Okay, I will teach you how to introduce yourself in Thai. ฉันชื่อ (chǎn chûue) “my name is.” |
So ฉันชื่อเจย์ (chǎn chûue jee) “my name is Jay.” |
ฉันมาจาก (chǎn ma jàak) “I am from” ฉันมาจากประเทศไทย (chǎn ma jàak bprà-thêet thai) “I am from Thailand.” |
If you are from let’s say, the states, you can say, ฉันมาจากอเมริกา (chǎn ma jàak à-mee-rí-gaa) “I am from America.” |
6. ฉันจะจำเพลงไทยให้ได้ 5 เพลง (Chǎn jà jam phleeng-thai hâi dâi hâa phleeng) “I'll memorize 5 Thai songs.” |
Memorizing maybe good but just understand the lyrics. I think that’s good enough too. |
7. ฉันจะจำคำศัพท์ให้ได้ 350 คำจาก Flashcards ใน ThaiPod101.com (Chǎn jà jam kham-sàp hâi-dâi sǎam-ráauy-hâa-sìp kham jàak flàaet-gáat nai thai-phàwt wan-oo-wan dàwt kham) “I'll finish memorizing 350 words with flashcards on ThaiPod101.com.” |

8. ฉันจะเขียนโปสการ์ด 10 ใบเป็นภาษาไทยให้เพื่อนคนไทย (chǎn jà khǐian bpóot-gáat sìp bai bpen phaa-sǎa thai hâi phûuean khon thai) “I'll write 10 postcards in Thai to my Thai friends.” |
It’s quite a good idea. If my friend sends me a postcard in Thai, I would be very happy. I think I would take photo and try to show off to everyone. |
9. ฉันจะเรียนวิธีการพูดถึงเหตุการณ์ในอดีต ปัจจุบัน และอนาคต (Chǎn jà riian wí-thii-gaan phûut thǔeng à-dìit bpàt-jù-ban láe à-naa-khót.) “I'll learn how to talk about past, present, and future events.” |
If you guys have learned Thai for some time or if you have learned Thai grammar, you know that our grammar is easier than grammar in English because we don’t have past tense or present tense or future tense. We don’t have tenses at all. So to talk about past, present or future events, you don’t need to change tenses. You just need to add some words. พรุ่งนี้ (phrûng-níi) “tomorrow” if you want to refer to the future events, or you can say, เมื่อวาน (mûuea-waan) “yesterday” if you want to refer to the events that have passed. So it’s very easy. Just add words indicating the time period. |
10. ฉันจะจำศัพท์ให้ได้ 150 คำ โดยการท่องศัพท์วันละ 5 คำ (Chǎn jà jam sàp hâi dâi nùeng-ráauy hâa-sìp kham dooi gaan thâawng-sàp wan-lá hâa kham.) “I'll master 150 words by memorizing 5 words a day.” |
Well, that’s like 150 words divided by 5 words a day like it will take a month for you to remember 150 words. |
Okay. So everyone, we are done for today’s lesson. See you next time. Bye-bye! |
